JD Vance said, “We have accepted for too long this idea that we ought to give over our streets to criminals and to vagrants and to people who are screaming at us instead of taking back our streets with our incredible law enforcement.”
We’ve gotten so used to rhetoric like this from Trumpist loons, it’s often unquestioned. But who, exactly, Mr. Vance, has been saying that America should give its streets over to criminals? Someone must have said it, right? Where? When? Who?
This kind of unhinged hyperbole is part and parcel of Trump’s propaganda. This is how they sell MAGA to people – by presenting a picture of a world of chaos, crime, and violence, in order to get people to buy the “only Trump can fix it” package.
Who are these “vagrants,” these “people who are screaming at us,” these criminals? Do you have a specific name, place, date, event, incident? Are we supposed to be able to deduce a particular person or event from the vague generalities you throw out here? Or are there massive increases in the stats for violent crime? Because you’re probably looking at the graphs wrong.
Every country has crime. Where are the people suggesting that crime should be tolerated? Where are they? Because no civilized person is seriously making that argument, unless they’re an anarchist, which are far more right-wing than even Vance and his daddy Trump. You’d never catch any left-winger saying anything like that.
Let’s repeat what Vance said: “We have accepted for too long this idea that we ought to give over our streets to criminals.” It sounds resolute and stern, doesn’t it? He makes it sound like action is finally being taken. But the problem – one of rampant crime – didn’t exist until Trump INVENTED it. We’re talking about a wholly fictitious problem. Yes, crime IS an issue, but the way Trump and co. always frame it, crime is this MASSIVE problem sweeping America, an unstoppable flood of lawlessness that’s destroying neighborhoods and ruining the streets.
Well, have YOU noticed any such apocalyptic disaster? It would be impossible not to notice such an enormous problem, would it not? If American cities were becoming rife with gangs, then you would be seeing the problem with your own two eyes, wouldn’t you? If your children couldn’t play in the park anymore for fear of gangsters, if they were mugged, if there was litter and vandalism all around you, you would be able to SEE the problem. But you can’t. Because this invasion of criminals is nothing more than a boogeyman conjured up by Trump in order to scare the public into voting for him.
Again, this is not to say that there’s no crime or gangs aren’t a problem, but there has been no all-pervasive permissiveness toward crime like Vance pretends. The cops didn’t all just sit around and do nothing during the Biden administration, just because the Democrats love crime (for some reason!). We don’t see it to the sheer extent that Trump and Vance have been saying because they have MADE it up.
Violent crime has generally been falling in the US since 2005. There hasn’t been this enormous surge of lawlessness and violence, and there certainly hasn’t been anyone claiming that we should accept crime and give our streets over to it.
But, hey, it works perfectly fine on MAGA apes, because it’s never about the information – it’s about how it makes people feel. It’s a tried and true strategy: introduce some boogeyman that induces fear, then provide the solution that the person feels like they have no choice but to go for. That’s how cults operate.
H. L. Mencken wrote, “There remained the problem of converting reluctant acquiescence into enthusiasm. It was solved, as always, by manufacturing new fears.”
Trump’s grudge will NEVER be done. He will always be MANUFACTURING things for you to be SCARED OF. It’s always the same stuff: foreigners, Muslims, liberals, Blacks, criminals. The boogeymen don’t matter – you’ll worship Trump whether the supposed threat is Biden or aliens from planet Zargon.
Mencken wrote, “The fact is that liberty, in any true sense, is a concept that lies quite beyond the reach of the inferior man’s mind. He can imagine and even esteem, in his way, certain false forms of liberty—for example, the right to choose between two political mountebanks, and to yell for the more obviously dishonest—but the reality is incomprehensible to him.”
You think you’re being free when you vote for Trump? No, you’re not. You’re being programmed. You think it’s what you want, but it’s really what they want. They have convinced you that their views are your own.
Mencken wrote, “And no wonder, for genuine liberty demands of its votaries a quality he lacks completely, and that is courage. The man who loves it must be willing to fight for it; blood, said Jefferson, is its natural manure. More, he must be able to endure it—an even more arduous business. Liberty means self-reliance, it means resolution, it means enterprise, it means the capacity for doing without.”
MAGA, we see, does NOT mean liberty. They imagine they’re ready to fight for it, but the fight is purely psychological, and they have already given their autonomy up to their caramel-faced leader. The second he came along, promising them a safe country free from foreigners, criminals and liberals, they submitted to him like a herd of cows. They did not fight. They did not resolve anything. They did not make anything happen.
They are imitators, so all they can do is imitate someone else. They have no ability to learn, and therefore NO AUTONOMY. All they can do is sit on social media, talking trash, and wait for their daddy figure, Trump, to give them more “wins.” MAGA is all about imagining you’re making a difference when actually you are doing nothing at all, nothing for yourself or your country.
They will never admit that Trump was a disastrous leader. They will never admit they made a terrible mistake, because WINNING is more important to them than FREEDOM. Staving off the fear and engaging in a circle jerk of manufactured self-esteem is far more important to them than acknowledging reality. What IS freedom, anyway? And why should they care, as long as they’ve got it good under Trump? Why would they fight for an abstract idea they can’t understand? The fact is that they prefer living well over living free, which is why they always fall for populist tricks. The same goes for the dunderheads of the UK, who elect similar people every time and somehow expect different results.
MAGA is an end to liberty. It’s the place where you hand in your dignity and freedom in exchange for the assurance that Trump will fix all your problems. It’s the cult of worshiping Trump as the best human being who ever lived, while all of the time he’s laughing his head off at how fucking dumb you are. It’s about fighting for your country … by doing absolutely nothing and waiting for Trump to save the day! They accuse people of being “America Last” but they are entirely Sanity Last. They are factually psychotic.
Invasion?
What about the invasion of immigrants Trump talks about all the time? If there is one thing that has always been clear and constant in Trump’s rhetoric, it’s his demonization of immigrants. According to Pew Research (check it out here https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/08/21/key-findings-about-us-immigrants/), the immigrant population as a proportion of the total population WAS on the rise. In 1970 it was 4.7%. In January 2025 it was 15.8%. That’s a massive jump over half a century, no doubt about it. Was it an INVASION? A threat to American citizens? Were they TAKING OVER the country? Hardly.
More than that, Trump has continually made it harder for even legal immigrants to get citizenship, famously going after birthright citizenship which is IN THE CONSTITUTION. So much for the USA!
It’s hard not to laugh at all the MAGA bozos who get so angry about immigrants, since you know their real problem is racism. The US is founded on immigration, and now it’s adopting an ideal of racial purity – just think about that for a second!
Donald Trump said, “How about allowing people to come to an open border, 13,000 of which were murderers. Many of them murdered far more than one person, and they’re now happily living in the United States. You know, now a murderer, I believe this, it’s in their genes. And we got a lot of bad genes in our country right now.”
Spoken like a true Nazi! Immigrants have “bad genes”! They come here, commit all sorts of crimes, and can never be rehabilitated! It’s just in their “genes”!
You know, the Nazis were very big on ascribing qualities to DNA, genes, heritage, and family. If you came from a Jewish family, that was enough to condemn you to the concentration camp. The Aryan race had the superior genes and therefore were honest, heroic, and upstanding, whereas Jews were made out to be crafty, sneaky, bearing illness and disease, a bad influence, plotting misfortune, etc. Preserving Aryan purity was very important; members of the Aryan race were NOT to reproduce with Jews, who had bad genes that were a threat to Aryanism, nor any of the other “inferior” races.
See how close Trump veered to the same beliefs, albeit with an anti-Hispanic/Latino spin? He literally claimed that immigrants have bad genes that cause them to become murderers! If anyone else had said that, it would have been much bigger news than it was. But when it comes to Trump, is it possible to be surprised anymore? We all know he’s a racist.
Arguably, racists are a much bigger problem than immigrants. They create unnecessary and unjustified cultural tension. They foster a culture of hatred, fear and division, a culture that is extremely hostile to immigration, a culture that believes in the purity of “real Americans”. But it’s just another false fear that Trump uses to control you.
When we have such people as Donald Trump making INSANE accusations against immigrants and conjuring up fantastical narratives in his head, racists and neo-Nazis feel justified and crawl out of their filthy holes, where they belong. They feel empowered to express their bigoted views openly and proudly because they know Trump has given them tacit permission to do so. And sure enough, the worst of MAGA are also the most racist.
MAGA is delusional and deluded. It is based on irrational and false fear. MAGA is the last thing that can save America because it is the biggest problem facing the US right now. It is not about freedom. It is not about democracy. It is about worshiping the cult leader. It is about making excuses for your own cowardice and passivity, by projecting the blame on to others.
Its time will be up.
