People THINK they like Trump … but they’re never seeing Trump himself. They’re seeing the false self-image Trump likes to project.
We’ve got all the humility in the world right here! Self-congratulatory bullshit followed by rhetorical bullshit. Of course, he wants you to ignore all the years he spent obsessing over status, titles, accolades, prizes, awards, being on the Time cover, etc. It’s always the same shallow Trump – he spends more time talking about how great he is than about injustices facing people poorer than him. That’s a fact. The most “Trump” part of this statement is the first sentence. The rest of it smacks of a speech that’s been written for him by someone else. We’ve seen plenty of scenarios where Trump doesn’t know how to express empathy, and this display of it doesn’t seem all that Trump-like.
And this is a pattern that holds true for the rest of the absurd speech, which he starts off, of course, with claims about how many “unendable” wars “he” stopped, falsely claiming that the world was at peace and everything was sunshine and rainbows during his first term, and failing to mention that the present wars have only gotten worse since his return to office and no magical peace is re-emerging. His pure ineptitude at ending the war in Ukraine – he doesn’t mention that, does he?
What should a Trump speech start with, other than masturbatory self-aggrandizement? You expect it every time and you get it every single time. Trump doesn’t do anything by halves, whether it’s destroying the US economy or giving himself vastly overblown praise. Absolutely everyone who’s a normal, decent person absolutely DESPISES this guy. But that doesn’t stop him pretending otherwise. He claims everyone loves him – then goes on to celebrate his haters in a display of smugness. He might actually be the most unlikeable person in the fucking world. There is NO CROSSOVER between this man and humanity. He could really be an alien, for all we know. Watching him give speeches to actual, serious organizations is like watching a toddler dictating to its bemused and tired family: no one gives a shit what they have to say, but they go through it anyway to avoid a tantrum.
Everything Trump does is a vehicle for self-praise, and it’s sickening to watch actual serious people have to put up with his nonsense. Trump becomes more and more GROTESQUE with every passing day. Not to mention he saw fit to bore the UN to death by droning on about the escalator malfunctioning and how he offered to renovate the UN complex for this much money and they went with someone else and got an inferior end product. That’s right – he wasn’t already smug and self-satisfied enough, so he had to add that as an aside.
The UN probably didn’t deal with Trump’s shitty business because of its shitty and shady reputation, but hey, when does Trump ever self-reflect? Reality never comes into it. He only reflects on his false self-image, not on his actual self – he’s incapable of doing that. For someone like Trump, the reality of who he is has long since vanished in his perception. He cares only about his false image, which he curates and nurtures carefully.
He always does! If you were to ask a child whether they should get candy, they’d always assure you that they absolutely deserve it! Trump probably salivates at the idea of receiving a Nobel Prize – or gets a boner. You know that, to someone like Trump, a Nobel Prize is infinitely more rewarding than some random family somewhere being allowed to live. You wouldn’t expect a child to care, but you certainly SHOULD expect your PRESIDENT to care.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s clear that Trump values luxury and prestige more than he values people. You can bet that Trump would never be the one going hungry so that his people can eat.
Man, it’s nice to see that some people have not totally lost their minds! Of course, Trump would call that fake news or whatever, but calling something fake doesn’t make it so; it only diminishes your power to acknowledge it.

You can deduce a lot about a person by looking at what they spend their time thinking about, what their attention is on, and what they take time out of their day to do. Trump’s attention is always on his false self-image, and this attempt to pretend it isn’t still contains self-congratulation. He LITERALLY can’t stop talking about himself! He tries to look like he has a sense of righteous indignation at the horrors of the world, but it comes off as rather hollow when it comes right after him banging on about why he should get a Nobel Prize. He’s so bad at trying to look humble and altruistic, it’s almost laughable.
